1922 Crash on San Francisco - Chicago flight

The cover is listed in the AAMS Catalog (5th Ed) in the first 20 INTERRUPTED FLIGHT COVERS that are familiarly known as CRASH COVERS.
It is now listed as # 221215.

Described as: December 15, PORCUPINE RIDGE, UTAH - United States Government flight - 8:00 a.m. San Francisco-Chicago. Pilot Henry C. Boonstra crashed plane into mountain ridge at 9400 feet, but miraculously was uninjured. The mail was recovered Dec. 27th and 480 lbs. undamaged or but slightly damaged, was forwarded from Coalville, Utah bearing the cachet shown.
